What a 20 oz ripple-wall cup is for
A 95 by 62 by 150 mm cup with a fluted outer board — the first of the two large sizes, on a 95 mm mouth rather than 90. That change of diameter means it takes a different lid from the 12 and 16 oz cups, which is worth knowing before an order is placed.
Twenty ounces is a commuter and drive-through size, filled once and carried a long way. The flutes give a hand something to hold on a cup that is heavy when full, and they keep the outside cool enough that no band is needed.
On a cup this tall the design has room to run in bands — a wide colour field at the base, the mark at eye level, a rim colour at the top — which suits the fluted surface better than one intricate image. Drive-throughs, transport hubs, convenience chains and large-format coffee.
Choosing an insulated cup removes the sleeve from the order entirely, and that is a bigger saving than the per-unit price suggests. One item to store instead of two, one artwork to maintain instead of two, one thing for staff to pick up per drink, and no risk of running out of sleeves while cups are still in stock. Count that in when comparing prices.
