What a 16 oz cup sleeve is for
A tapered band for the 16 oz cup, 81.56 mm down to 65.33 mm and 73 mm tall. Its diameters are within a fraction of the 12 oz sleeve but it is fourteen millimetres taller, which is the difference between the two and the reason they are not interchangeable.
That extra height is the tallest printable band in the sleeve range apart from the 20 and 22 oz, and on a cup that is carried for half an hour it is the part of the cup a customer looks at most. A large cup is the one most likely to be photographed with a logo facing out.
Because the taper is gentle over 73 mm, a straight-set line of type holds better here than on the smaller sleeves — you can use a horizontal baseline without it visibly climbing. Cafés, campus outlets, offices and takeaway counters selling large filter coffee.
A plain paper sleeve is the one part of a takeaway coffee that is straightforwardly recyclable — no coating, no laminate, no plastic. That is worth knowing if the brand says anything about waste: the honest claim is about the band, not the cup, and a design that says so on the sleeve itself is both true and useful to the customer holding it.
