What a 16 oz ripple-wall cup is for
A 90 by 60 by 135 mm large cup with a fluted outer board. This is the size that stays in a customer's hands the longest — a large latte or a filter coffee is nursed for half an hour at a desk or on a commute — and it is where insulation stops being a nicety.
It shares its 90 mm mouth with the 12 oz cup, so one lid covers both and most cafés order the two together. The 16 oz is the taller of the pair, which gives the design a genuinely large panel to work with, roughly the area of a postcard.
A word on the flutes: they run vertically, so vertical type and repeating patterns sit with them and read cleanly, while thin horizontal rules cross every ridge and look broken. Work with the grain of the wall. Cafés, takeaway counters, offices and campus outlets.
Two-board cups carry higher minimum orders than single-wall ones, because two blanks have to be printed, formed and assembled rather than one. If you are moving from single-wall plus a sleeve, ask for the minimum on both before assuming the insulated cup is simply a swap — the per-cup price may be close while the first order is much larger.
