What a 16 oz double-wall cup is for
Two smooth boards and an air gap, 90 by 60 by 135 mm. It is the largest cup that still shares the 90 mm lid with the 12 oz, so a café can hold one lid for two sizes and put the difference into a better cup body.
The flat wall gives you the biggest uninterrupted print area in the cup range — a tall panel that will carry a photograph, a full illustration or a wrapped landscape without a fold or a flute breaking it. On a cup this size that is a real canvas.
It is stiffer than a single-wall 16 oz, which matters more at large sizes: a big cup full of hot liquid flexes when it is gripped, and flex is what makes a lid pop. Speciality cafés, hotels, event catering and any counter selling large filter coffee.
There is a side effect worth knowing: the drink stays hot longer. That is the point, but at 16 ounces it means a coffee is still too hot to drink comfortably several minutes after it is handed over, and still warm half an hour later. For a sit-in latte that is an improvement; for a drink meant to be finished quickly it is not always what a customer wants.
