What a single-cup carrier is for
One flat sheet with two creases, at 120 by 60 by 120 mm. The cup drops through a ring cut in the base and the two walls fold up until their hand slots meet. Nothing is glued — the weight of the cup is what holds the carrier shut.
It solves the one-cup problem. A four-cup tray is wasteful and awkward for a single drink, and a customer carrying one hot cup and a bag has no free hand; this gives them a handle, and it folds flat to nothing behind the counter until it is needed.
Because it is flat in storage and assembled in one movement, it costs a counter almost nothing in space or time. The two outer faces are full-height panels that face forward as it is carried, which makes it one of the most visible pieces of print a café can hand out. Cafés, coffee carts, bakeries and delivery riders.
It carries one cup and nothing else. There is no pocket for a pastry bag, a receipt or a lid, so it supplements a bag rather than replacing one, and it is usually handed out on request rather than with every drink. That keeps the quantity low relative to cups, so order it on its own cycle instead of matching cup volumes.
