What an ice-cream cup is for
A wide-mouth scoop cup, 85 by 65 by 55 mm — wider than it is tall, which is the opposite proportion to every coffee cup here. The wide mouth is what lets a scoop go in whole and a spoon come out flat, and it is why gelato and frozen yoghurt are served in this shape.
The short wall means the print area is a broad, shallow band, and the rim is the part a customer sees first looking down at it. Designs that work here sit low and read horizontally: a flavour name, a wordmark, a border pattern around the top.
Cold service brings condensation, so the outside will be damp within minutes of being filled — which is fine for the board but worth remembering for any design that relies on a customer holding it by a printed panel. Gelaterias, frozen yoghurt bars, dessert counters and event catering.
Choose the lid with the cup. A flat lid suits a takeaway or a delivery order and hides the rim entirely; a domed lid leaves room for a mounded scoop and a topping, and shows the product through it if it is clear. Both fit the same cup, so the decision is about how the dessert is served rather than about the cup — but it changes which part of your design is actually seen.
