What a paper bread bag is for
A side-gusseted bakery carrier with a punched handle and a shaped front flap, 225 by 91 by 318 mm. It is tall and narrow because a loaf is: the gussets let it open to the width of the bread and close back flat, and the flap folds over the top to keep it from drying.
The front face is the tallest uninterrupted panel of any bag in the range, which suits a bakery name set vertically or a full-height illustration. The gussets fold in when the bag is empty on a shelf and open out when it is filled, so anything printed on them is only half seen.
Paper rather than film matters here — a loaf in plastic sweats and goes soft, and a bakery that has just baked it does not want that. Bakeries, bread counters, farm shops and delis are the buyers, usually printing one bag for loaves and cakes both.
The front flap folds over, it does not seal. That makes this a same-day bag: bread is fine in it for the walk home and dry by the next morning, which is exactly how a bakery wants a loaf to behave. If the product has to keep for several days, the answer is not a better paper bag but a different pack, and it is worth saying so to a customer rather than letting them find out.
