What a triangle pizza box is for
This is a triangular prism, not a flat box with a triangular lid. Three walls stand off an isosceles base and a curved lid folds over from the back and buckles into a slit in the top, so the slice is enclosed on every side and the tip is held closed by its own tab. A slice in a folded wedge of card goes cold and slides out; this does neither.
The big surface is the curved lid, and it is the one the customer sees on a counter and in a bag. Because it bends over the top, artwork placed there wraps rather than sits flat — a repeating pattern or a wordmark running along the fold works, a tightly centred logo distorts.
It costs more board than a simple slice tray, so it is chosen where the slice travels: delivery of single slices, hotel room service, stadium concourses and airport food courts. Greaseproof lining matters, because the lid is in contact with the cheese for the whole journey.
Because it is a prism rather than a flat wedge, it stands on its base with the slice upright, which means it can be displayed rather than just carried. A row of them on a heated counter shows the product at eye level and sells the slice without the lid being opened. If that is how it will be used, design the lid to be read from the side as well as from above.
