What a pizza slice box is for
This is one slice, boxed and shut: a triangular tray with a triangular lid over it. It exists because a slice sold on its own has nowhere to go — a flat wedge of cardboard leaves the cheese exposed and the tip drooping, and a full pizza box for one slice is absurd.
The shape is what makes it work and what makes it awkward. All three walls meet at points rather than corners, so artwork that runs to the edge gets pinched at the tip. Keep logos and type inside the wide end near the crust, where the panel is actually a usable rectangle, and treat the point as decoration.
It has to survive grease and heat, so a coated or greaseproof-lined board is worth the difference. Slice counters, food courts, late-night windows and stadium concessions are where it sells — all places where the box is carried in one hand and eaten from within a few minutes, so the closure matters more than the stacking.
It is two printed pieces, and they are not worth the same. Once the slice is in, the tray is hidden and marked; the lid is what is seen, carried and photographed. At low volumes that is a real saving — print the lid properly and take the tray plain, and almost nobody will know the difference.
