What a rollover hinged lid mailer is for
A corrugated mailer with a hinged lid and a double side wall: each wall goes up, rolls over on a narrow strip and comes back down inside the box, its tabs dropping into slots cut through the base crease. There is no glue anywhere, and the doubled walls are what let it survive a courier network.
This is an e-commerce box, so the outside is seen twice — once on a doorstep and once when it is opened. Design the lid for the doorstep and the inside of the lid for the moment of opening, which is the only part of packaging a customer ever photographs.
On 1.5 mm E-flute it takes stacking and handling without the lid caving, and the hinge means it can be opened and closed again for returns without tape. Subscription boxes, direct-to-consumer brands and anyone shipping something breakable choose this over a plain slotted carton.
Printing the inside of a corrugated mailer costs considerably more than printing the outside, because it is a second pass on a board that is not made for fine work. One colour inside — a message, a pattern, a thank-you — gets most of the effect for a fraction of the cost of full colour. Spend the colour on the lid, which is what stands on the doorstep.
