What a serving tray is for
A large corrugated tray — 302 by 202 mm — with its long walls raked right back to sixty degrees so a hand reaches in easily, the short walls bowed and standing square, and a flap folded in at every corner. It is built to be carried loaded and set down in front of people.
Because the long walls lie so far back, the tray is seen mostly as a base with a shallow frame. That makes the base the design surface, which is unusual for a tray and worth using: printed well, it becomes the mat the food is presented on rather than the container it arrived in.
E-flute at 1.5 mm is what lets it hold a full sharing platter without flexing in the middle. Sharing menus, deli counters, catering, food halls and event service all use this size, often with a paper liner over the printed base.
It is a presentation surface, not a transport one. With the long walls raked back to sixty degrees there is almost nothing to stop anything that rolls, so it is for food that stays where it is put — a platter, a board of sharing plates, a buffet run. Carried across a room it is fine; carried in a vehicle it is not.
